Abstract
This workshop aims to cover recent advances and novel trending research topics in the exciting area of Microwave Photonic techniques and devices for telecommunications and sensing applications. The workshop will present five talks given by highly reputed specialits in the field that will address latest advances some of the main hot-topic areas of research within the field. Progress in the emergent topic of photonic integrated circuits for RF-Photonics will be covered, including the implementation of advanced filtering and discrimination functionalities. The second topic addressed in the workshop will be related to the development, and implementation of very low voltage lithium Niobate and Silicon external modulators. Finally, advances will be reported in the exciting areas of ultrawideband signal distribution over passive optical networks and the distribution of THz signals over fiber networks for the implementation of broadband wireless Access networks. There will be a 30 minutes time slot allocated after the talks for free discussions between the audience and a panel formed by the five speakers and the organizers on these and other emerging research topics and directions on the field of Microwave Photonics.
