SELF-WAVELENGTH INITIALIZATION METHOD FOR THE BRAGG-GRATING BASED TUNABLE LIGHT SOURCE IN WDM NETWORKS

Self-wavelength initialization method, using a spectrally-sliced broadband light, is proposed and demonstrated with transmission performance. Because of broad spectral width of the reference, only 0.5dB penalty was shown under external injection ratio of 3dB.

We report the use of partial-response maximum likelihood equalizer and offset filtering to enable 20-Gb/s transmission in bandwidth-limited RSOA-based WDM-PON. The system is demonstrated with bidirectional architecture over 20-km fiber using a 1-GHz RSOA.

 We demonstrate a novel 10Gb/s 20km single fiber transmission link based on a remotely fed 1GHz-bandwidth-limited RSOA. Adaptive loading with discrete multitone was applied. We also report flexible-bandwidth-allocated multiple access based on the proposed idea.

RECENT ADVANCEMENT IN WDM PON TECHNOLOGY

We report on the recent advancement in the WDM PON technology including high-speed (>10 Gb/s) and long-reach (>100 km) operations achieved by using the directly modulated reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers and digital coherent receivers.

QUANTIZED FEEDBACK EQUALIZATION FOR DIRECT FSK MODULATION IN WDM-PON

Downstream FSK modulation allows for simple wavelength reuse in WDM-PON. The intrinsic distortion of the laser FM response is here compensated by means of Quantized Feedback Equalization, avoiding precoding need.
