The best student paper presentation award recognizes research excellence and presentation abilities. To be eligible you had to apply before August 11, 2011.
Criteria for eligibility
You are eligible to apply for the best student paper presentation award competition if you are the first author, have made significant contributions to this paper, are presenting this paper and if you are a full time student as of May 2011.
The top applicant paper from each subcommittee (with respect to score) will be selected as finalist and the applicants have been informed about this decision on August 15, 2011.
At the conference a jury consisting of the General Chair, the TPC Chair and one representative from ADVA Optical Networking will listen to all finalist's presentation and will make a decision for the winner. Finalists will be judged by the content as well as by the presentation of the paper.
The award is given in the closing session.
The TPC Chair and one ADVA Optical Networking representative will give the winner of the "ECOC Best Student Paper Presentation Award" sponsered by ADVA Optical Networking and hand over an award plaque and a cheque (1'000 €).

A best paper award has been created in memoriam of Fabio Neri, general co-chair of last year’s ECOC, who passed away unexpectedly in April 2011 during a ski trip in Piemonte.

The prize goes to the highest scored regular paper that has been submitted in the area of backbone and core networks. The winning team will be announced at the closing session of ECOC 2011.
